No time limit has been prescribed for the post of Prime Minister, but a person can hold this office as long as the majority in the Lok Sabha is in his favor.
The Prime Minister is the head of the Council of Ministers of the Central Government and the Chief Advisor to the President. The President appoints the ministers on the advice of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister also determines the portfolios of the ministers. The Prime Minister also decides the work of the cabinet.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister also gives instructions to the administration of the country and all the policy decisions are also taken by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is the point of contact between the President and the Council of Ministers. The principal spokesperson of the Council of Ministers is also the Prime Minister.
Not only this, the Prime Minister also leads the parliamentary debates fought in the name of the ruling party. He can participate in any debate being fought in favor of the Council of Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Parliament.
The Prime Minister also coordinates among the ministers. The Prime Minister can get any necessary information from any ministry. Because the Constitution, in particular, gives the Prime Minister complete control over the Union Cabinet.
Not only this, the power to exercise all the executive powers of the President has been given by the Constitution to the democratically elected Prime Minister. This is the reason why the Prime Minister is called the emerging center of the major power of the country.

The Prime Minister of India gets a basic salary of around Rs 1,60,000 per month. Its basic salary is Rs 50,000. Apart from this, expenditure allowance is Rs 3000 and MP allowance is Rs 45,000. Along with this, daily allowance is also available at the rate of 2,000, which is Rs 61,000 per month. All this together becomes 1,60,000 lakhs.
