Educational Qualification for Becoming DM

Age Limits for Becoming DM
- You can liable for Becoming DM between age 21 years to 32 years.

- For OBC Category: 3 years of Age Relaxation

Exam Pattern:
- Stage 1: IAS Preliminary Exam – 2 papers of 200 marks each
- Stage 2: IAS Mains Exam – Written exam (9 papers) and an
- Stage 3: Interview
Preliminary(Prelims) Exam:
- Prelims exam consist of two paper, 200 marks each.
- Negative marking one third(0.33) penalty.
- Question paper come with English & Hindi languages.
- Duration 2 hours each, extra 20 minutes for Disability Candidate.
Syllabus: Paper 1(General Studies)
- Current events of national and international importance.
- History of India and Indian National Movement.
- Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
- Indian Polity and Governance Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
- Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change that do not require subject specialization.
- General Science.
Syllabus: Paper 2 (CSAT)
- Comprehension.
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
- Decision-making and problem-solving.
- General mental ability.
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. Class X level).
Main Exam:
For Attending Main exam first candidate must qualified Prelims Exam. On the basis of Mark in Main exam, they will liable for Interview.

- Paper‐IV General Studies – III – Syllabus. 250 Marks. (Technology, Economic Development, Bio‐diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management).
- Paper‐V General Studies – IV – Syllabus. 250 Marks. (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude).
- Paper‐VI Optional Subject – Paper 1 – 250 Marks.
- Paper‐VII Optional Subject – Paper 2 – 250 Marks.
- Paper ‐ A – Indian Language – Syllabus. (One of the Indian Languages to be selected by the candidate from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution. This paper will not be compulsory for candidates hailing from the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim) 300 Marks.
- Paper‐ B – English Language – Syllabus. 300 Marks.
Note: The written examination (main) will consist of the following nine papers, but only 7 papers will be counted for final merit ranking. For the rest two papers, the candidate should secure minimum marks prescribed by UPSC each year.
When Become DM?
For Becoming DM, candidates has to pass the CSE (Civil Service Exam) exam of UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).
After you pass UPSC Exam, you should becoming a IAS (Indian Administrative Service) Officer. After that, you promoted as DM after getting one or tow promotions on IAS officer.
It’s means first, you become IAS Officer. Then, you will become an DM (District Magistrate) on the promotion of IAS officer.
It’s meaning that, you want to become DM, first you prepare IAS exam.
